Lesson Plans
Below are a few sample syllabi and lesson plans from recent sections of college writing courses. I utilize backward design to implement outcomes-based education, starting with course outcomes and objectives and working “backward” to plan how I will assess those outcomes. Then, I consider which activities, readings, discussions, and mini-lectures will help students meet these objectives each class section. Whenever possible, I use open education resources (OERs) and online resources to drive student engagement and total course affordability up for my students. My courses regularly use readings and histories that feature diverse authors and topics, including LGBTQ+ issues, anti-racism, gender equity, and othering.
